United Airlines Pays for their Mistakes

On January 31 of this year, the United Airlines site mistakenly offered flights at ridiculously low prices for about an hour. Now they say they’ll honor the 143 tickets sold at these prices, according to this articleI think they’re setting a dangerous precedent. I don’t see how anyone could reasonably expect that the fares were legitimate, but the whiners who bought those tickets have cried foul since United said they wouldn’t honor them. Now they’re going to give in. Good luck to anyone who lists the wrong price on their Web site in the future. If this had been a listing in a newspaper ad, I don’t think anyone would have expected them to honor the prices.
